Demonstration focuses on the art of flowers
Award-winning floral designer Hitomi Gilliam will hold a demonstration of abstract and free form arrangements at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Doris Duke Theatre, Honolulu Academy of Arts.
Gilliam is one of only five recipients of the Design Influence Award from the American Institute of Floral Designers, given to individuals who have made a significant impact on the art form.
She refers to her style as ARTFLOR, "A New Look at Couture Design." "To paint with flowers, to sculpt with flowers, and to style 'haute couture' allows flowers to be seen and appreciated from new heights as a creative medium of expression," she says.
The event is sponsored by the Garden Club of Honolulu.
Cost is $5; the public is asked to arrive by 9:45 a.m.
