The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
A&B stock rises 5.6%
Alexander & Baldwin Inc., which last week posted a 43 percent increase in third-quarter earnings, rose 5.6 percent this week to lead 10 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. A&B closed yesterday at $50.40.
Hawaiian Holdings Inc., parent of Hawaiian Airlines, was close behind with a 5.2 percent advance after a bankruptcy judge earlier this week upheld his tentative decision and awarded former Hawaiian Air trustee Joshua Gotbaum $250,000 instead of the $8 million that Gotbaum had requested.
Hawaiian's stock ended yesterday at $2.64.
