Hawaii runners last at WAC championships
The University of Hawaii cross country team placed last out of eight teams at the Western Athletic Conference Championships in Eagle, Idaho.
Host Idaho won the meet with 30 points, followed by Utah State with 43. Hawaii was 201 points behind the winning Vandals.
Sheena Thain was Hawaii's top finisher in 30th place in the 5k run in 6:23.2.
Seasiders beat Falcons, lose to Tigers
Brigham Young-Hawaii won one and lost one yesterday in the Aggie Shootout water polo tournament at Davis, Calif.
The Seasiders (12-8) lost 13-9 to No. 9 Pacific in the morning and then downed No. 18 Air Force 11-10 in sudden-death overtime in the afternoon.
Jamie Jacobson's goal gave BYUH the victory over the Falcons after four regular-time periods and two overtime periods didn't produce a winner before the sudden-death stanza.
The Seasiders' Koen Plasmeijer tied the game with 1 second left in the second overtime period on a penalty shot.
Jacobson also had three goals in the loss to the Tigers.
UH assistants and Livai to speak at QB Club
University of Hawaii football assistant coaches Ron Lee and Rich Miano are scheduled to speak at tomorrow's meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club.
Lee is the Warriors' receivers coach and Miano coaches defensive backs.
Kahuku football head coach Siuaki Livai is also scheduled to speak at the meeting, which starts with a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the Pagoda Hotel Ballroom.
