3 UH sailors in top 8 in singlehanded race
Three University of Hawaii sailors finished in the top eight at the Men's Singlehanded Pacific Coast Championships at Sand Island yesterday.
Mike Scott finshed fifth with 98 points to lead UH, followed by Mark Spector in sixth with 110 and Eric Oppen in eighth with 120.
Greg Helias of USC won with 59 points and Emory Wager of Stanford was second with 65.
Tinja Anderson-Mitterling of UH won the women's division on Friday and qualified for nationals.
UH doubles pair pulls off upset before losing
University of Hawaii's Ryan Sceats and Jarrod Diepraam upset the third-seeded doubles team in the third round of the ITA North Western Region Championships and then lost in the quarterfinals at Santa Clara, Calif., yesterday.
Sceats and Diepraam upset Oregon's Marcus Schiller and Arron Spencer 8-6, then lost to Portland's Scott Kennel and James Redpath 8-6.
