Academic Talent Search seeking child applicants
Star-Bulletin staff
Families can sign up their 2nd- to 8th-grade children for The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth annual academic talent search through the end of November.
Students who enroll in the national CTY talent search take an above-grade-level test to learn more about their academic talents and perhaps qualify for CTY's summer and online programs. Financial aid is available.
Last year, 599 students from Hawaii participated in the CTY program, a national non-profit network in which students will learn more about their own academic abilities, and have their talents developed. CTY parallels and complements a gifted child's regular school experience.
CTY operates in 19 states and Washington, D.C. It provided more than $5.7 million in aid to more than 1,400 students last year.
Gifted students qualifying for free or reduced price lunch programs may join the talent search virtually for free.
