Secrets to Success

Don’t let fear keep you from success
When I was about six years old, I had a terrifying dream where I thought I saw hideous creatures gathering in the shadows. They looked like they were conspiring to pull me into the darkness, so I turned and ran. I remember that the harder I ran, the heavier my body felt. I ran so hard that my legs felt like two balloons filled with liquid lead.
As I approached a cliff I still couldn't see my pursuers, but the fear overwhelmed me so much that I quickly eliminated all other options except to jump. In my panic, I plummeted into a chasm so deep it seemed to have no end. I woke up screaming, still looking around for my pursuers. I remember my mom's words as I lay there in bed terrified. "It's okay, it's not real. Don't be afraid, it's all in your imagination."
How many of us have had dreams like that when we were children? What do you tell your children when they wake from a nightmare? I'd bet it's something similar to what my mother told me. You may even tell yourself, "It's not real." If that's true, then why do so many business owners let their fears keep them from achieving all they're meant to?
Think of a vision you have to take your business to new heights or transform your lifestyle. Something you haven't been able to bring into reality. Can you tell me what's stopping you from taking action and achieving your goals? If you look at what's really stopping you, you'll probably see it's not "real."
Fears are the obstacles you see when you take your focus off your goals.
Our minds were created to work efficiently by focusing only on ONE belief about any given situation. The catch is that your mind doesn't differentiate between a negative or positive focus. Which- ever is stronger, your subconscious will hone in on it like a laser-guided missile.
If you're a business owner who's allowing your fears to keep your focus and determine your reactions, you'll live a life of mediocrity at best. And get the very thing you are afraid of at worst. Like a child in a dream running from shadows, your mind will only be focused on the fear of what could happen instead of focusing on what you need to do to reach your goal.
Everyone has fears. But the winners in business and life choose to leave those fears in the shadows and believe in themselves and their goal. Put yourself in the winner's circle by stacking one supporting belief on top of another in order to achieve your goal.
Surround yourself with people who will support your efforts and coach you to keep moving ahead in your business and life. When you do, you'll stop fear dead in its tracks and achieve the success you want.
