CONGRATULATIONS, BEEBE!: Roslyn Catracchia, left, had the leis, Megan Mount a plate of food, and Beebe Freitas a glass of champagne as they partied with Mary Chesnut Hicks Saturday at Marks Garage before the 2005 "Celebrate the ARTS!" Alliance Awards show. Freitas was the recipient of the 2005 Alfred Preis Award, and Catracchia surprised her mother with an original musical comedy, "Anatomy of a Pianist," that recalled Freitas' experiences as a child prodigy and music student. Mount was one of four actors who played Freitas in the sketch. Chesnut Hicks portrayed Freitas' mother.

A GREAT SHOWCASE: Stephen Mead caught up with casting director Margaret Doversola during Wayne Ward's Fall 2005 Actors Showcase Friday at the Waialae Country Club. The show presented film clips of character sketches by 29 local actors. Among the most memorable were Sherry Shaoling's portrayal of a woman with "performance" problems, Larry Wiss' searing performance as the beleaguered professor in "Oleanna," Monica Franco's comic work as an inept theater usher, and Nick Gianforti as a cagey con man.

MEET "SEAN'S DAD": Takeo, left, talked with Lee Ann Jones and her husband, famed jazz bassist Steve Jones, before the show started. The Joneses were there to support their son, actor Sean Jones. Steve said that thanks to his son's performances in "Big River" and "Footloose," he is becoming known as "Sean's dad."

WATCH FOR MARGARET: Councilman Rod Tam, right, got input from Nelson Pires and Margaret Jones during intermission. Tam hopes to get actors involved in government programs that promote the film industry. Jones will be seen in the title role in "Pele O Ka Foodmart" at the Hawaii International Film Festival.

GOOD SHOW: Actors Showcase participants Lauren Wong, left, Matthew Thompson, Sean Jones and Jamie Hightower celebrated after the screenings. Wong and Hightower were showcased recreating a scene from "Blue Crush." Thompson and Jones played introspective "greasers" in "The Outsiders."
