Sometimes he works in obvious ways
The other day, trying to stretch the waistband of a pair of jeans, I knelt at the foot of my bed and leaned forward, putting my elbows on the bedspread. Realizing I was in the classic "praying child" position, I figured, why not pray? I'm already down here, and I'm sure I can think of something to pray about.
I don't really know how to pray. Never went to church with my family or any of that. So I felt a little awkward. "Um ... God," I began, then paused. "Uh ... I guess those folks who were hit by those hurricanes on the mainland could use some help. Could you maybe do something about that?"
And then an amazing thing happened. God spoke to me. And he said, "Write a check!"
Now I get it! God isn't here to do things for us; he's here to work through us. And www.redcross.org is a good place to start.
