Skincare refresher
Makeup artist Vera Ami will present a class on "Skincare 101" from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Thursday at Kailua Public Library. The class is meant for women who are finding their skin has changed since they learned the basics as teens.
Ami will help identify skin problems and bad habits. The session is free. Call 266-9911.
Media dangers
Luisita Cruz-Valdez, a journalist from the Philippines, will speak on the topic of "Why Are They Killing Journalists?," at 4 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Hearts Academy.
The Honolulu Community Media Council is sponsoring the visit by Cruz-Valdez, vice president for current affairs at ABS-CBN, the largest radio and television network in the Philippines.
