Star-Bulletin Index


The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Losing week

Cyanotech Corp. rose 3.2 percent this week to lead the way during a down week for most of the stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The Big Island producer of nutritional products from microalgae closed yesterday at 96 cents, its 25th straight trading day under $1.

Bank of Hawaii Corp. eked out a 0.7 percent gain to $48.80 and was the only other local company to finish the week in the green.

Hoku Scientific Inc., a developer of fuel cell technology, was the worst performer as it fell 11.7 percent to $10.74.
