OCC Senior Men's Invitational set for Monday
Defending champion George Yamamoto and a field of 70 players will be competing for the 15th Annual Oahu Country Club Senior Men's Invitational, teeing off Monday at 7 a.m.
Yamamoto won by a stroke last year despite competing in the event's Super Senior (65-up) division. Runner-up Russ McGarry was the top finisher in the 55-64 age group.
Other notable seniors in the field include former champions Wendell Kop and Art Costas, Vince Goo, Tom Goodbody, Shigeru Matsui, Barry Schnabel, Roy Nishimoto and Dick Sieradzki.
The two-day tournament will run Monday and Tuesday at the Oahu Country Club.
Stan Smith is USTA special guest
Former tennis great Stan Smith is a special guest of the USTA's 19th annual Tennis Weekend at Ala Moana Park and McCoy Pavilion.
Clinics and exhibits are on tap at the event, which is being held Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Smith is a former U.S. Open and Wimbledon champion.
Jose Higueras, who has helped develop top players such as Pete Sampras and Jennifer Capriati, is another special guest.

Golf and tennis tourneys to benefit nurses
The Maui Nurses Scholarship Foundation will hold its annual golf tournament at The Dunes at the Maui Lani Golf Course on Nov. 12 and tennis tournament at the Wailea Tennis Center on Nov. 13.

Lacrosse tournament to be held in Waikiki
The Hawaii Lacrosse Invitational Tournament will be held from Oct. 29 to 30 at Kapiolani Park.
