See Dilated Peoples Nov. 10 at Pipeline
TWO years after last performing here, the Southern California hip-hop trio
Dilated Peoples returns to Honolulu.
Still touring in support of the album "Neighborhood Watch," the guys will perform Nov. 10 at Pipeline Cafe -- exactly two years to the day after their last gig here. Jimmy Taco will host things this time around, with guest performances by Emirc and the Nocturnal Sound Krew. DJs Delve, Syze One and XL will also be on hand. Limited pre-sale tickets are currently available at Jelly's, Toogruvz, DIG Lifestyles and at the club.
The show is also a coming-out party for DIG Lifestyles, a local streetwear boutique on Keeaumoku Street, opened by promoters Rey Alconcel and Chris Nakano back in April. They've collaborated with Architechs Hawaii for the concert, and will host an autograph signing with Dilated Peoples on Nov. 9 as part of the grand-opening festivities at the shop ...
WORD ALSO came on Friday that rock legends Mötley Crüe will be making a stop here on the way back from Australia in December.
Tickets for the Dec. 14 concert at the Blaisdell Arena go on sale Saturday at all Ticketmaster outlets, with prices set at $62.50 and $69.50. If you want a sneak preview of what the farewell show will look like, pick up a copy of the two-disc DVD "Carnival of Sins," set for release on Oct. 25. It will contain more than three hours of music from previous stops on the tour that started in February.
And if you haven't gotten enough of Vince Neil and Tommy Lee from their recent reality television appearances, check out iTunes for a special re-recorded version of "Home Sweet Home" featuring Linkin Park's Chester Bennington. Proceeds from the single's sales will be donated to the American Red Cross to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina ...
VISITING TOURISTS have a lot to do with it, but Zanzabar sure is packing them in on Sunday nights in Waikiki.
It'd been a while since I'd been to "Sizzlin' Sundays," so I was pleasantly surprised to find the club filled last weekend. DJs Mike D and Rude Dogg kept the crowd dancing, and I even got to help judge the weekly booty contest!
Also spotted on Sunday: Lisa D, KCCN's Bruddah Bryan and Rick Rock Productions' Urusai and Big Dan ...
