Farr is gathering about 20 women, many of whom are in direct-sales programs, to create a shopping extravaganza. Vendors will sell a variety of items, including cosmetics, jewelry, home decorations, scrapbooking supplies, stained glass, handbags and sleepwear. Massage and make-up tattoos will also be offered.
"I truly believe that by getting together like this, we are helping each other promote our businesses. I'm bringing my friends and customers to the events, and so are all the other vendors. We are cross-advertising for each other," said Farr. The goal is to showcase women in business and provide fun and hassle-free shopping and an opportunity to mingle with other women.
Cam Cunningham plans to sell gourmet foods and offer samples from Tastefully Simple, for which she is an "independent consultant." Tastefully Simple offers such gourmet convenience items as spices, soups, desserts, breads, sauces, marinades, salad dressings and salsas.
The idea for the shopping event evolved when Farr went to a friend's party where there was a massage therapist and some products to purchase. Farr wanted to do something similar, but after reviewing the logistics realized her house was too small. So the extravaganza found its new home at the golf course.
"This has been a great learning adventure and really is driven by my desire to inspire, help and support other women," added Farr. "I truly believe that women can do anything when they have the support of their family, friends and other businesswomen."
