Warriors sweep Thunderbirds
Jose Delgado had 21 kills as the University of Hawaii men's volleyball team defeated the University of British Columbia 21-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-23 in an exhibition match at Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada last night.
Dio Dante hit for a .750 percentage with 12 kills on 16 attempts with no errors.
The Warriors also defeated the Thunderbirds in three games earlier yesterday.
Vulcans, Sea Warriors win in five: Cori Sutter had 20 kills and eight blocks to lead the Hawaii-Hilo volleyball team to a 30-26, 31-29, 25-30, 28-30, 18-16 win over Chaminade last night at McCabe Gym.
Rose Ramsey added 17 kills and Taina Savage 14 kills for the Vulcans (12-5). Trina Kauliakamoa had 24 kills in the loss and Brittnee Fonnesbeck added 13 kills and six blocks for the Silverswords (8-9), who have dropped six straight.
In Laie, Flavia Brakling had 24 kills and Barbara Martin 20 as No. 5 Hawaii Pacific defeated No. 21 Brigham Young-Hawaii 32-30, 25-30, 30-28, 27-30, 16-14.
Yu Chuan Weng had 37 kills to lead BYUH.
Vulcans, Sea Warriors take Hilo Invitational
Paul Moth finished in third place to lead the University of Hawaii-Hilo to a team win of the men's 6-kilometer race at the Hilo Invitational yesterday.
The Vulcans edged Brigham Young-Hawaii by two points with 43. Hawaii Pacific's Jacob Klausen won the race in a time of 20:12. On the women's side, HPU blew by the competition, posting 24 points as three Sea Warriors finished in the top five.
HPU's Inga Burger won the 5K in a time of 23:48.
Seasiders split on final day of Convergence
Carlos Acevedo scored five goals to lead the No. 16 Brigham Young-Hawaii water polo team to a 13-11 win over Occidental yesterday at the Claremont Convergence Tournament in Claremont, Calif.
Erik Grosshans and Brett Hearn added two goals each for the Seasiders (8-6).
Earlier in the day, former Iolani graduate Tim Brown scored three goals to lead Pomona-Pitzer to a 7-6 win over the Seasiders. Koen Plasmeijer had three goals in the loss.
