Pipeline Cafe is on fire with ‘Latin Fever’
First it was the Restaurant Row opening of Las Palmas Steak and Seafood. Now, Pipeline Cafe gets caliente with tomorrow's kickoff of "Latin Fever."
Hosted by A La Carte Entertainment, the new weekly gets started at 9 p.m. with a 30-minute dance lesson, followed by DJs Rod, Armando and Ray Cruz spinning those spicy Spanish beats in two rooms until 4 a.m.
"Latin Fever" is an 18-and-over event, and is a welcome addition to the variety of parties hosted at Pipeline. Call 589-1999 for more info ...
LOTS OF news on the concert front: Tickets are already on sale for the return of Ozomatli to the islands. They're calling it the "Hawaiian Halloween Tour," with dates at Kapono's on Oct. 27 and 28 before traveling to Maui on Oct. 29 and the Big Island on Oct. 30. Tickets for the shows at Kapono's are $20 in advance, with Swampa ZZ serving as the opening act ... Rock fans should be happy to hear that Coheed and Cambria will finally make an appearance in Hawaii. I'll have more details on the Nov. 23 all-ages show at Pipeline soon ... Upcoming performances by Talib Kweli and Jasmine Trias have been scrapped for now, but expect them both to be rescheduled ... And if it wasn't enough that De La Soul plans to play out here, I'm hearing that Honolulu could be getting a visit by A Tribe Called Quest before the end of the year ...
THEY'RE PRETTY darn ugly, but oh-so-comfortable. Have you seen people around wearing Crocs?
I couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted Natural Vibrations' Wayne Enos rocking an orange pair of the sandals on stage at the Blaisdell a couple of weeks ago. He joins the likes of Mel Cabang, Donovan Dela Cruz and Star-Bulletin Style Editor Nadine Kam as converts to the comfy kicks ...
AND IN case you were trying to catch the new ICON Sport radio show, I need to make a slight correction to what appeared here last week.
The program, hosted by T. Jay Thompson and Patrick Freitas, airs on KKEA 1420-AM every Monday at 9 a.m.
Be sure to check this space on Thursday, when I'll have details on a unique party that combines the excitement of mixed martial arts with the fun you'd normally expect at a nightclub ...
