Mendy Goldstein, visiting from Brooklyn, N.Y., blew a ram's horn called a shofar yesterday at the Daniel Levey Chabad Hebrew School as part of the preparation for the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. Once used as a means to alert others during times of crisis, the shofar is now used symbolically during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
