Tennis Seasiders advance to finals
Today's Wilson/ITA West Regionals finals will be an all-Brigham Young-Hawaii affair at Pomona, Calif.
In men's singles, top seed Junyoung Kim will face teammate and third seed Leon So'onalole. The BYUH duo will face Brent Molden and Eric Rubens of UC San Diego in the doubles finals.
On the women's side, top seed Julia Ustyuzhanina will meet teammate and second seed Tetyana Bula. The BYUH duo will then face Jenny Tsai and Maui's Katrina Holmberg of Cal Poly Pomona in the doubles finals.
Okino leads Hawaii golfers
Eleven-year-old Cyd Okino of Honolulu shot a 1-under-par 72 to lead Hawaii to a tie for 25th at the USGA Women's State Team Championship on Thursday in Bluffton, S.C.
Okino finished the three-round event at 237. Hawaii finished at 470 while Georgia won with 434.
In the USGA Men's State Team Championship also at Bluffton, Hawaii finished tied for 40th with a 452 total. Former University of Hawaii golfer Kellen-Floyd Asao finished at 222. Texas won with 422.
Sea Warriors stop Silverswords
Flavia Brakling put down 20 kills and Barbara Martin added 19 as Hawaii Pacific (11-1) dropped Chaminade (8-6) 27-30, 30-19, 30-27, 30-14 last night at McCabe Gym.
