The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
Barnwell leads
Barnwell Industries Inc. rose 5.2 percent to close at its highest level in a month in leading the way this week in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The Honolulu-based company, which has natural gas and oil operations in Canada and real estate holdings on the Big Island, ended yesterday at $63.98.
Alexander & Baldwin Inc. had the second-best performance as it gained 3.1 percent to $53.24, just off its all-time high of $54.82 reached on July 22.
Cyanotech Corp. rose 2.1 percent to 96 cents.
