Free fittings help cause

The connection between bra and breast cancer might be a bit close for comfort, but sometimes the best route to awareness is a direct one.
Fit for the Cure, sponsored by lingerie maker Wacoal America, takes that approach.
For five years, Wacoal has offered free bra fittings as part of its fund-raising efforts for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. In Honolulu this year, the fittings take place Oct. 7 at Macy's Ala Moana and Oct. 15 at Neiman Marcus.
For every woman who undergoes a fitting in a product from Wacoal, Donna Karan Intimates or DKNY Underwear, Wacoal will donate $2 to the foundation, and each woman will receive a complimentary embroidered lingerie travel bag. For every bra purchased, Wacoal will donate an additional $2.
Information will also be offered about early breast cancer detection and good breast health.
Throughout October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Wacoal will donate $2 for every pink bra or Awareness bra purchased. The Awareness bra bears the signature breast cancer pink ribbon.
Fit for the Cure has raised more than $500,000 for the Komen Foundation.
Fittings will take place at both stores from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 941-2345 (Macy's) or 951-8887 (Neiman Marcus).
