UH names CFO
and vice chancellor

The University of Hawaii Board of Regents approved appointments of a new chief financial officer for the university system and a new vice chancellor for student services at UH-Manoa on Friday.

Howard S. Todo, a graduate of the UH-Manoa business college, is the new vice president for budget and finance and chief financial officer.

Todo most recently was vice president of finance and chief financial officer of Island Air. He was a also a partner with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young LLP and has been a consultant and acting chief financial officer for the Board of Water Supply.

The board also approved Wayne T. Iwaoka to be UH-Manoa interim vice chancellor for students, a position created as part of the reorganization of the Manoa administrative structure earlier this year.

Iwaoka is currently an associate researcher and associate professor and graduate chairman in the Department of Human Nutrition, Food and Animal Sciences.

The vice chancellor for students is responsible for student services outside the classroom, including residential and campus life, the student career and employment office, counseling and health services and judicial affairs, and the Student Equity, Excellence and Diversity office.

The interim appointment is for one year beginning Oct. 1. The term will coincide with a national search for a permanent vice chancellor. Salaries for the positions were not immediately available.
