Maui woman loses in U.S. Open

Maui's Beth Arnoult-Ritthaler lost to fellow American Karin Korb, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 yesterday in the first round of the wheelchair division of the U.S. Open at Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

Her tournament is not finished, however, as she will team with Florida's Jan Proctor as they take on Elizabeth Williams and Sonja Peters today in a first-round doubles match.

Seasiders remain 16th

Despite dropping two matches to No. 1 UCLA last weekend, the BYU-Hawaii men's water polo team remained 16th in the National Collegiate Top 20 poll released yesterday.

The Seasiders only match this weekend is against the Hawaiian Masters in an exhibition tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the BYU-Hawaii pool.

Prep teams seeking coaches

Pac-Five is seeking a boys intermediate soccer coach for the winter season.

Those interested can call athletic director John Hom at 595-6768.

La Pietra is also looking for two volleyball coaches. Applicants can reach Katy Bourne at 922-2744.
