The Hawaii soccer team's scoring drought is over.

After winning their season opener in overtime, the Rainbow Wahine went 239 minutes, 40 seconds without a goal.

All-Tournament

Hawaii: Adria Campbell, Tehane Higa, Krisha Kai, Natasha Kai

Pepperdine: Jenna Fodor, Courtney Nelson, Anna Picarelli, Lindsey Redlin, Lauren Treinen, Megan Wood (MVP)

Eastern Michigan: Michele Lawrence, Trisha Roberts

Natasha Kai broke that spell yesterday at 40:13 of the first half in the final match of the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Classic at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park Stadium.

Adria Campbell tied a UH single-match record with three assists, leading Hawaii to a 3-0 win over Eastern Michigan and a second-place finish in the three-team tournament.

The first goal triggered a Wahine explosion of three goals in a span of 2:15 after they had completely dominated the action from the opening kickoff.

"They were good goals, well-crafted goals," UH coach Pinsoom Tenzing said.

The Wahine (2-2) showed improvement in cutting off the passing lanes on defense and found open space on offense, moving the ball well from one side to the other.

The Wahine had a decent scoring chance early when Campbell drove a free kick from just outside the 18-yard line at 28:45. Eastern Michigan goalkeeper Andrea Bouldin made a diving save.

Hawaii broke through when Campbell chipped a ball over the Eagles defense to Kai, who pushed it around Bouldin and rolled it inside the right post.

Following an Eagles corner kick, the Wahine counter-attacked and Campbell found Kai with another through pass that the senior striker guided past Bouldin with her right leg at 41:52.

"Adria saw me in the open," Kai said, "we had eye contact and caught them in a fast transition."

Thirty-six seconds later Campbell drilled a shot from 30 yards out that hit the crossbar. The ball bounced down and slightly away from the goal line, where Koren Takeyama was waiting to redirect it into the net.

"It has been really difficult, but I think we are finally coming together. We're playing smarter," said Campbell, who transferred from Southern Methodist after two seasons with the Mustangs. "I'm learning how Tasha wants the ball. I'm proud of this team and I'm feeling comfortable with the team. This win will help a lot when we go on the road."

Tenzing thought Campbell played a superlative game.

"She was holding the ball well, running with the ball well and distributing passes. This is what I expect of her," he said.

"Today we were moving better. We weren't afraid to make the necessary passes."

Pepperdine clinched the tournament with a 2-0 win over the Eagles on Saturday.
