UCLA beats Chaminade twice and BYUH once

Defending national champion UCLA defeated Chaminade twice and Brigham Young-Hawaii once in men's water polo matches to open the season in the Seasiders' tournament this weekend in Laie.

The Bruins beat the Silverswords 30-2 on Saturday and 15-2 yesterday, and they also topped the Seasiders 15-4 yesterday.

UCLA, winner of eight national championships, faces Brigham Young-Hawaii again tonight at 7.

UH group raises money for hurricane relief

The University of Hawaii Student-Athlete Advisory Council raised $7,172.74 for the Hurricane Katrina relief fund during Saturday's football game at Aloha Stadium and three nights of the Hawaiian Airlines Classic volleyball tournament.

Yesterday's donation from volleyball was $1,439.20.

OIHL registering players for fall season

The Oahu In-line Hockey League is running its registration period for the fall season, which starts Sept. 17.

The cost for players ages 6 and below to 18 and over is $45 per season or $70 per year (including the spring 2006 season).
