The Hawaii Rainbow Wahine take on the Brigham Young Cougars at 5 p.m.

It will be a match where the midfielders will be key and Hawaii probably will be without center midfielder starters Gabina Bohlman and Jessica Domingo, who suffered knee injuries against George Mason on Friday night.

BYU coach Jennifer Rockwood counts heavily on midfielders Jaime Rendich Beck, Charlene Lui and Natalie Nate.

"All three are skilled and a lot of what we do will depend on them," said Rockwood.

The Cougars demonstrated great ability to score from the outside with three of their four goals against George Mason on Saturday coming from 30 yards or more.

"BYU is very organized and we're going to have to make sure everyone is marked," said UH coach Pinsoom Tenzing.

The UH coach also modified his postmatch comments after watching the tape Saturday.

"I was too severe on the kids. I thought our defense was exquisite. We were hunting them (George Mason attackers) down in numbers and stripping space (from them) very well," Tenzing said.

What disappointed Tenzing was the spacing; too many players standing around instead of finding open space.

"We have to do a better job of anticipating where the second ball (pass) will go. It doesn't matter whether we touch it or the other team touches it. We have to anticipate," he said.

The Cougars' goal is to score in the first 15 minutes to set the tone for the match. They did that in two exhibition matches on the mainland and against George Mason on Saturday night.

"We want balls to go wide, then serve them into the middle," said Rockwood, who acknowledged her defense will have to contain striker Natasha Kai after watching UH's all-time leading scorer break away four times against George Mason.

"Natasha is a great player and we're going to have to make sure we cover her at all times," said Rockwood.

The teams tied 0-0 in double OT last year in Utah, and tied 2-2 here two years ago.
