'Showcase' sales results

"Showcase 2005," a two-day art sale and gala fund-raiser that took place at the Honolulu Academy of Arts last weekend, raised just under $249,000. Sixty percent of the funds raised will go to the artists, with the remaining 40 percent benefitting children's art programs at the academy.

The funds raised marked a 25 percent increase over last year's event.

"Showcase 2005," themed "Passion," featured more than 500 original works by Hawaii artists in the Henry R. Luce Gallery.
