OUR PICKS THIS WEEKEND

Nadine sez...

OK you pyros, stop with the brush fires already. If you want to see flames dancing, in a practical way, head to the Honolulu Community College parking lot Sundays, when Koala Moa offers huli-style chicken.

You can eat or watch the birds turning over hot coals. Winds assure you'll see plenty of the red and orange glow.

A whole chicken will cost you $8. Sometimes two-pound birds are available for 50 cents more. If it's just you eating, a large plate is $6 including two scoops of rice, a scoop of corn and a half chicken. A $4 mini plate features one scoop of rice, a scoop of corn and a quarter chicken.

Add a dollar for a soft drink and you're good to go.

When police catch the pyros, they should make them man the rotisserie. The combination of hot weather, heavy labor and fire may cool their enthusiasm once and for all.

Place: Koala Moa
When: Sundays

If you're into rap, you should definitely check out living icons Public Enemy at the Hawaii Hip-Hop Festival at the Kapiolani Community College campus. Frontman Chuck D is still a formidable rapper and onstage presence after all these years, and sideman Flavor Flav, even sans large-clock necklace and that weird romance he had with Brigitte Nielsen on MTV's "The Surreal Life," should still be kicking it. "Yeah, boyyyyyy!" See Page 4.

The Korean shows are such a rage with a bunch of my friends that the night before the tickets were supposed to go on sale for the Korean Fest at the Doris Duke Theatre, the nominated ticket buyer of the group was already clicking on the Web site to check if tickets could be purchased. By early the next morning, she got all our tickets for the various movies that we'll be seeing this weekend. Therefore, I'll be living at Doris Duke Theatre this weekend with the rest of the Korean show fanatics. See Page 7.
