Kapiolani Park hosts the
65th Na Hula Festival

Tracy Omori of Leilani Alama Hula Studio performed to a medley during the 65th Na Hula Festival, held yesterday at Kapiolani Park. Established in 1941, the hula festival is Hawaii's longest-held noncompetitive hula celebration. Kumu Hula Puanani Alama and Leilani Alama have both been attending the festival since its inception, and both of their halaus kicked off the event.

The women of Na Wahine O Ka Hula Mai Ka Pu'uwai performed to "Kahala Opuna." The graceful song and dance honors the rainbow goddess of Manoa, born of rain and wind.
