Stuffs

DA KINE

Can you Sudoku?

So you never liked math? Couldn't add and subtract as well as the geek next to you in class?

Give numbers another chance.

They just may be your friends when there are no grades at sake. You could become one of thousands to succumb to the charms of Sudoku, a Japanese number puzzle that was a hit in its home country before sweeping England, and now the United States.

The puzzle debuts today on Page D2 and will run daily in the Star-Bulletin print edition, with a "monster" version awaiting on Sunday that brings alphabets into the picture.

"Sudoku," roughly translated, means "the number that is single." The aim is to fill in the empty squares so that the digits 1 through 9 appear just once in every row, column and individual block.

So sharpen those pencils!
