» Rodney Choy Foo (Kailua) had Kinston's only hit in a 6-0 loss to the Wilmington Blue Rocks Friday. Tommy Hottovy started the game with three perfect innings but was on a pitch count and yanked. Choy Foo greeted reliever Felix Romero with a single but the Blu Rocks finished the game facing just one batter over the minimum.
» Brandon Chaves (Hilo, UH-Hilo) drove in the winning run with a single in the 10th inning off Pete Fisher to lead Lynchburg over Wilmington last week. Chaves, who carried the lowest average on the team, had four hits in the game after not pairing hits all season and sitting in a 1-for-24 slump in his last seven games.
» Kurt Suzuki's (Baldwin, Cal State Fullerton) name was mentioned by ESPN's Peter Gammons in trade rumors to the Reds in a package for Adam Dunn. The trade deadline is today at 10 a.m. Hawaii Time.
» Bronson Sardinha (Kamehameha) learned that he will be among the handful of players representing the Yankees in the Arizona Fall League beginning Oct. 4, according to the Trenton (N.J.) Times.
» Darren Blakely (UH) rescued the Birmingham Barons with a three-run walk off home run to beat the Wilmington Biscuits Thursday. It was Blakely's 16th longball of the season.
» Dusty Bergman (UH) earned a win and a save in back-to-back appearances against the Albuquerque Isotopes. He picked up a win in relief in a 14-7 victory on Wednesday, and earned his sixth save with a scoreless ninth inning in a 5-2 win on Thursday.
» Shane Victorino (St. Anthony) turned into one of the best hitters in the International League since moving to the leadoff spot June 8. Victorino has hit .340 since then, raising his average from .245 to .294 and smacking seven of his 15 home runs. Victorino currently has a 12-game hitting streak and has hit safely in 40 of 48 games.
» Chris Truby (Damien) has been on fire since returning from injury, hitting .320 with four homers and 10 RBIs.
» The Tucson Sidewinders were down to only 10 position players Wednesday, forcing them to use Keoni DeRenne (Iolani, Arizona), who hasn't hit a home run since 2003, into the designated hitter slot.
» Brandon League (Saint Louis) pitched for the first time since July 9 on Thursday after making an adjustment to his delivery, giving up one run in 1 2/3 innings.

"It felt kind of weird running out to the mound," League told the Toronto Star.
