Chan, Shigezawa triumph in Optimist golf

Honolulu's Lorens Chan and Bradley Shigezawa placed first in their age groups yesterday in the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Shigezawa finished with a three-round total of 10-under-par 206 to capture the Boys 12-13 division.

Chan took the Boys 10-11 division with a three-round total of 218.

Lindsay, Bascuk claim Pro-Pro championship

Leland Lindsay and John Bascuk teamed up to win the Aloha Section PGA ProLink Pro-Pro Championship at the Kaanapali Tournament North Course on Maui yesterday.

Lindsay, who teaches out of Luana Hills Country Club, and Bascuk, who turned pro this year, shot a 6-under-par 65 in the final round to capture the title. They finished the 4-ball stroke play event with a two-round total of 11-under 131.

First-round leaders John Lynch and Matt Pakkala, both of Kukio Golf and Beach Club, were one shot back.

Altima goes 5-0 to win Triple Crown tourney

Altima, a softball team from Kailua, won the girls 14-and-under division at the American Triple Crown Championship on Sunday in Albuquerque, N.M.

Altima defeated Oklahoma Moore-Stars 4-3 in the title game.

Ariel Silva's run-scoring double scored Tiffany Pereza in the bottom of the last inning for the win. Amber Waracka was the winning pitcher.

Altima went 5-0 in the tourney and 42-4 this season under coach John Uekawa.

UH site auctions players' football jerseys

The University of Hawaii athletic department, in conjunction with RainBowTique, has launched an auction Web site.

The site offers fans the opportunity to purchase authentic football jerseys worn by players in games last season. Starting bids are $75.
