Public Enemy
will hit town

As promised, I've got more info about Public Enemy returning to Honolulu for the first time in more than a decade.

Coinciding with the August releases of both brand new ("Rebirth of a Nation," due out Aug. 28) and greatest hits ("Power to the People and the Beats," due out Aug. 9) albums, the rap giants headline the first annual "Hawaii Hip-Hop Festival" at Kapiolani Community College on Aug. 19.

Tickets went on sale yesterday at all Ticketmaster outlets for the afternoon concert, promoted by Pau Hana Productions and Pacific Best Routes. Tiki Entertainment will provide the opening acts, with Spookahuna, Parccyde, JBird, Christyles and the Tiki All-Stars scheduled to perform. Call 296-1027 for more info ...

BUT THAT'S not the only concert going down next month -- BAMP Project recently announced the return of Steel Pulse to Kapono's on Aug. 28, with tickets going on sale tomorrow ... The Aloha Tower Marketplace restaurant and bar will also host Alien Ant Farm on Aug. 20, with Justin Black and Missing Dave opening. Order tickets online at www.ticketswest.com, or pick them up at Kapono's ... And I just got word that Redman will perform for the first time in Honolulu on Aug. 4 at Pipeline Cafe, with local boy Emirc as the opening act. Tickets for this one go on sale Friday ...

CAN'T WAIT to see Falaniko Vitale take on Robbie Lawler at "Super Brawl: ICON" in a couple of weeks? Check out KFVE tonight at 11 p.m. for a preview of the mixed martial arts matches at Blaisdell Arena on July 23.

The program, which repeats at 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and again next Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, also features the first free broadcast of Vitale's flying knockout of Masanori Suda, and an in-depth look at Jason "The Mayhem" Miller. A special afternoon broadcast will air at 1 p.m. Sunday. Visit www.superbrawl.tv for more ...

AND TODAY marks the release of Jasmine Trias' debut album, which the "American Idol" finalist will celebrate at 6 p.m. tonight at Kapono's following a whirlwind day of media interviews and autograph sessions. I'll be following her around, so pick up a copy of tomorrow's Star-Bulletin for more about the return of "Jasmania" ...
