Kimura leads OCC Invitational

Blaine Kimura shot 4-over-par 75 yesterday to maintain a two-stroke lead heading into the final round of the Oahu Country Club Invitational.

Kimura enters today's play at OCC with a two-round total of 143. Ryan Perez moved into second place with a 1-under 70 (145). Kellen-Floyd Asao and Travis Toyama are tied for third at 147.

The final round will be held today at OCC starting at 12:30 p.m.

Outta Cynk won the team competition with a total of 595.

» Honolulu's Tadd Fujikawa shot a 2-over 74 yesterday at Turtle Bay Resort to win the boys 16-17 division at the Callaway Golf PGA Junior Series.

Fujikawa finished with a three-round total of 220.

Kayla Morinaga of Waipahu won the girls 16-17 division by shooting a 1-under 71 to finish at 5-over 221. Honolulu's Chan Kim (213) won the boys 13-15 division, and Elysse Okada (232) of Kahului won the girls 13-15 division.

Pilipa'a still undefeated at Junior Olympics

The Pilipa'a 18's of Hilo won three matches yesterday to improve to 9-0 and advance to the Gold Medal Bracket of the USA Volleyball Junior Olympic Volleyball Tournament in Louisville, Ky.

Pilipa'a, the 2004 JO 17 Club Division champion, defeated Pitt Elite 18's 25-16, 24-26, 15-7, Epic VBC of California 25-23, 25-20, and Tool City of Pennsylvania 25-23, 25-15.

Pilipa'a 16's also went 3-0 yesterday and moved to 7-2 overall. The team defeated Mavericks of Corona, Calif., 25-14, 12-25, 17-15, Apex of San Jose, Calif., 26-24, 25-18, and AZ Rage of Gilbert, Ariz., 25-23, 25-9.
