Art's happening

Joy presents the art, music and fashion event "The Happening" from 10 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday at 43 N. Hotel St.

Featured will be music by the Goners and the Tiny Believers, and DJs Joy and Matt- Ratt, with art on view and a fashion show by Honolulu Community College 2000 graduate Michele Lau.

Admission is $5. Must be 21 or older.

This is your face on UV

Maybe you don't really want to know, but seeing your face through the images from a UV Polaroid camera could be your first wake-up call to take sun protection seriously, even if it means wearing funny hats and carrying a parasol every day.

Kose, a Japanese cosmetic company that produces the Sekkisei skin care product line, will be bringing the camera to Neiman Marcus, allowing people to see skin damage below the skin's surface, invisible to the human eye.

Skin specialists will perform facials and show Sekkisei products formulated to minimize and stall the effects of UV exposure.

Private appointments -- from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday -- run 15 minutes long and can be booked by calling the Awake counter at NM at 948-7588.

Also at NM, Uzo, international makeup artist for Nars cosmetics, will show Nars' summer colors from noon to 7 p.m. tomorrow, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in Cosmetics, Level One. Call 948-7587 for an appointment.

Ward celebrates anniversary

Victoria Ward Centers marks the 30th anniversary of Ward Warehouse this weekend with prizes and entertainment from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

In addition, the first 100 people who arrive at the entrance to Ward Centre at 11 a.m. Friday through Sunday will receive free shopping bags, coupons and prizes. Enter to win a $300 shopping spree. What you could do with that!
