CRIB NOTES

Interior designer Shari Saiki to launch mesh, a furniture store

Finally, a store where "regular" folk can get their hands on stuff they thought was out of reach. Interiors of showcased homes such as those developed by Stanford Carr and Castle & Cooke are usually styled with goodies available only to those in the interior design trade. Shari Saiki of Shari Saiki Design Studio is one designer who's had a hand in those developments, making visitors who walk through model homes leave wanting and longing if not for the home, than for what's in it.

Her store, mesh, will likely make it easier for do-it-yourselfers to furnish their own places with the flair of a professional.

"At the urging of my clients and others who wanted to purchase pieces that exhibit my design taste, we finally set our sights on opening a retail outlet," said Saiki in a press release announcing the opening of her shop July 15. mesh will house 4,027 square feet of furniture and accessories described as "Contemporary Pacifica, Modern Elegance, Tropical Immersion and Transitional Fusion design" at the Shops at Dole Cannery Square.

Saiki's business partner and husband, Bryan Kitashima, said, "I think people will be using the 'wow' word a lot."
