Father’s Day eats and
treats abound

Mom gets so much attention on her day; how about some equal time for Dad on his day, June 19? Here are a few places ready to welcome the dear old guy:

» Celebrate Dads: The Hawaii Coalition for Dads presents "Celebrate Fathers Day," with festivities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Windward Mall, including entertainment by Any Kine Ohana, clowns and more. There will be a concurrent celebration at Pearlridge for those on the Leeward side, with entertainment by Jesse Rivera, Country Dancers of Hawaii, Al the Magician, Hula Halau Olana, and Terry Brown and his Ukulele Kids, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Father/child look-alike contests will be held at both locations.

» Father's Day Plant Sale: If Dad has a green thumb, bring him on down to the Town Center of Mililani Center Stage from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to choose his favorite plant from a selection of indoor and landscaping bromeliads and succulents. Also shown will be one-of-a-kind dish gardens and hanging planters, and growers will share tips on how to grow these plants successfully. Repeats June 19. Call 622-5500.

Father's Day cruise: The Starlet departs from Aloha Tower Marketplace, Pier 8, for a family friendly cruise from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Kamaaina and military rate is $47.96 for adults and $28.80 for ages 3 to 11, with valid Hawaii ID.
