Rainbow sailors finish eighth

The Hawaii coed sailing team finished in eighth place of the ICSA Team Racing Championships after losing its final two races against Dartmouth and Hobart/William Smith yesterday at Lake Travis in Austin, Texas.

Hawaii will shift its attention to the Coed Dinghy National Championships beginning today where it is the defending champion.

Vulcans gain point guard

The UH-Hilo men's basketball team signed Los Angeles City College 6-foot-1 point guard Darryl Harris yesterday.

Los Angeles City College is also responsible for producing this past season's PacWest Conference Player of the Year and two-time All-Conference performer Skip Esene.

The end of the 2005 season saw three Vulcan point guards' careers come to a close as they played out their last year of eligibility.

HPU gets one too:Hawaii Pacific men's basketball coach Kelly Wells announced that 6-foot-3 Adrian Johnson has signed a letter of intent to play for the Sea Warriors next season.

Johnson, who played guard at San Diego City College last season, was named second team All-Pacific Coast Conference after averaging 13.6 points per game in leading his team to the conference title.

Radford hires baseball coach

Byron McCorriston has been hired as varsity baseball coach at Radford, the school announced yesterday.

McCorriston, who spent three seasons as head coach at Molokai, also served as an assistant coach for three years at Seabury Hall.
