Cooking for Dad

Chef Lance Kosaka of Alan Wong's restaurant will demonstrate brunch dishes for Father's Day at noon Saturday at the Macy's Ala Moana fourth-floor kitchen.

Dishes to be sampled come from the brunch menu to be featured at Wong's Pineapple Room restaurant at Macy's.

Wine director Mark Shishido will recommend wines to pair with the meal.

Stop 'n' sip

The Wine Stop is hosting a seminar on American caviar and wine, 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Caviar and smoked fish from Tsar Nicoulai, a California producer that follows eco-friendly growing techniques will be paired with wines, including California sparkling wines. Cost is $45.

The Wine Stop, located at 1809 S. King St., also offers free wine tastings from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

This week's tasting focuses on summer wines, followed June 18 with California pinot noirs and June 25 with Chilean wines.

Heat's on

Pick up tips for grilling local produce, from sausage and fish to fruits and veggies, at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Mililani Saturday Farmers' Market.

Market founders Dean Okimoto and Joan Namkoong will instruct.

The market is open from 2 to 4 p.m. at Mililani High School. Call 848-2074.

Understanding sake

Learn to appreciate the finer points of sake at a tasting from 6 to 8 p.m. June 16 at Gyotaku Restaurant on King Street.

Premium sakes will be poured and sake-friendly appetizers will be served.

The event is sponsored by the Globally Aware Professionals Program, which is organized under the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council to provide networking opportunities with international themes for young professionals.

Cost is $35; $30 for Asian Affairs Council or Globally Award Professionals members. Reservation deadline is Monday. Call 944-7759 or e-mail hs@paachawaii.org.

Gone to California

Wines from Santa Barbara, Sonoma and Napa Valley will be featured at "California Wine Adventure," a tasting session from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Kahuku Terrace at the Turtle Bay Resort.

Wines from 30 wineries via the Milton Brokerage portfolio will include Chalone, Edna Valley, Dynamite, Dry Creek, Echelon, Folie a Deux, Beaulieu Vineyard, Sterling Vineyards, St. Supery and Acacia.

Along with their standard bottlings, meritage and select varietals from these winemakers will be poured.

Cost is $50, including heavy pupus. Call 734-6900.
