Monica Santiago, 3, was one of nearly 5,800 military family members who visited the Honolulu Zoo free of charge yesterday. The United Service Organization, City and County of Honolulu, Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and the Honolulu Zoo Society sponsored the event as part of a Military Appreciation Day. "The goal is to honor the military families and to have an opportunity for the families to spend some free time together," said Herman 'Butch' Finley, president of the USO board of directors. The event featured free food, entertainment, booths and keiki crafts.
