The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.


Hawaiian leads

The parent of Hawaiian Airlines, which emerged from bankruptcy this week, rose 4.1 percent in the holiday-shortened week to lead nine other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. Hawaiian Holdings Inc. closed yesterday at $5.31 after hitting a four-week high of $5.76 the day before.

Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. had the second-best performance as it edged up 0.8 percent to $25.95.

Maui Land & Pineapple Inc. brought up the rear after its stock fell 5.2 percent to $40.
