Movies opening this week:

Tomorrow:

>> "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants": To mark their first summer vacation apart, four best friends decide to use a pair of thrift-store jeans that fits them all as a way of keeping in touch. Each wears the jeans for a week to see what luck they bring before sending them on to the next friend. Based on the best seller by Ann Brashares, the movie stars Amber Tamblyn ("Joan of Arcadia"), Alexis Bledel ("Gilmore Girls"), America Ferrera ("Real Women Have Curves") and Blake Lively. (PG)

Friday:

>> "Cinderella Man": Russell Crowe, director Ron Howard, producer Brian Grazer and co-screenwriter Akiva Goldsman team up again following 2001's Oscar-winning "A Beautiful Mind." Crowe plays Depression-era heavyweight boxing champ Jim Braddock, an underdog who has nothing going for him but an OK right and a loving family. RenŽe Zellweger plays Braddock's wife, and Paul Giamatti plays his loudmouth manager/trainer. (PG-13)

>> "Lords of Dogtown": After the success of his documentary "Dogtown and Z-Boys," Stacy Peralta wrote a screenplay based on what he had filmed, namely the rise of the skateboarding scene in the 1970s across the United States, all started by three teenage surfers who skated in backyard swimming pools in Southern California. Catherine Hardwicke of "Thirteen" fame directs, with a cast that includes Heath Ledger, Emile Hirsch and Johnny Knoxville. (PG-13)
