a Home

The Hawaiian Humane Society found homes for more than 6,000 animals last year. Today, the Star-Bulletin and the society are featuring 70 that need loving homes. Here's how to adopt:

Adoptions

The process takes about an hour, and you will fill out an Adoption Profile and talk with a counselor. If you want to download an Adoption Profile and fill it out at home, you can go to www.hawaiianhumane.org/adoptions/.

Fees

Dogs:
» Adoption fee: $55
» For dogs 4 months of age or older, a City & County dog license will need to be purchased for $10.

Cats:
» Adoption fee: $55
» A feline AIDS/feline leukemia test is available for $15.

Small animals:
» Rabbits: $25 includes spay or neuter
» Guinea pigs: $25 includes neuter of males
» Rats, turtles, mice and birds: Fees vary.

Note: Anyone age 60 or older can adopt up to two cats and one dog (pet must be age 6 or older) for free.

The 15th-anniversary PetWalk will feature more than 3,000 people and their pets.

All animals are spayed or neutered before they go home with their new families. The only exception is the young guinea pigs who must return for their surgery.
