The "Baby Crawling Contest," presented by Jamba Juice, provided excitement for the whole family yesterday at the 8th Annual New Baby Expo 2005 held at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. Above, 1-year-old Landin Langridge was up on all fours going to his mom, Bridget. Landin finished second in his heat.

Lester Fujikami, Cindy Morales, Akiko Jenks and Laura Hill coaxed their babies to crawl to the finish line. Jenks' son, Jeffrey, was the winner of that heat. The expo continues today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Hundreds of people showed up yesterday for an auction of items from the set of the defunct television series "North Shore" held at Diamond Head Film Studios. The 515 lots up for bid ranged from area rugs to entire staircases. Here, bidders sat among some of the furniture used on the Fox network show.

Lawson Smead, 5, helped his father, Maj. Christopher Smead of the 9th Regional Readiness Command, set up an authentic WWI German half-shelter tent during Living History Day festivities at Fort DeRussy yesterday morning. Maj. Smead replicates old war tactics, shelters, and strategies and even traveled to Pennsylvania recently to join Civil War enthusiasts experiencing trench life.
