CARD SHARK
Daniel Negreanu's "Card Shark" debuts on Page E3.

So perhaps you should listen when he says he can turn you into a better poker player. Which he'll do, Sundays starting today, through his column, "Card Shark" (see Page E3 of today's Honolulu Star-Bulletin).

Negreanu, 30, has been a professional poker player since 1992. He is the 2004-2005 World Poker Tour Player of the Year, 2004 ESPN Player of the Year and 2004 Card Player Magazine Player of the Year.

A native of Toronto, Canada, Negreanu lives in Las Vegas, where he dabbles in golf and maintains a fan's fervor for professional hockey. "That all being said, poker is what I do," he says. "Poker is my passion."

"Card Shark" aims to make complicated poker analysis easy to understand. Negreanu uses computer software to simulate poker hands, "so that you'll know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em." He'll offer a poker lesson of the week and reveal poker secrets.

"Every week you'll learn a 'poker nugget' that you can put to use immediately, either in your weekly home game or in your trips to the online poker room of your choice," he says.

Texas Hold 'em isn't the only game he'll hone in on. You'll also learn about classic poker games such as Omaha and 7-Card Stud, and some new games, too. Ever heard of Razz or Pineapple? Well, you will.
