READY TO ROLL: Paul Ogata, center, congratulated student-directors Gabe Hoeffkan and Chrystal Jameson before he introduced their new Scion-Hawaii television commercials at the O Lounge on Tuesday. Hoeffkan and Jameson are students at the UH-Manoa Academy for Creative Media and created the 30-second commercials for a class in advanced cinematic and digital production. Hoefkkan showcased the Scion tC, Jameson the xA and xB models.

CATCHING UP: Channell Kukona welcomed local filmmaker Vince Keala Lucero to the ACM party. Kukona has appeared in several other commercials for Scion-Hawaii's parent company, Servco Automotive. Her name tag on her tank top reads "You Can't Afford Me."

DON'T FORGET THE LOGO!: Thomas Takemoto-Chock, center, is the third student-director whose work is now airing on local television. He included all three Scion models -- the xA sedan, the boxy xB utility vehicle and the tC coupe -- in his 30-second commercial. Jeremiah Tayao, left, holding the Scion logo, helped with production design and casting. Kaliko Palmeira, an award-winning filmmaker, produced Takemoto-Chock's spot.

YES, HE'S "AMASIN": Party emcee Paul Ogata, left, clowned with Anne Misawa and Gerard Elmore before he formally introducing the three student directors and their commercials. Misawa teaches Advanced Cinematic & Digital Production at the UH. Elmore, who attended the party as her guest, wrote and produced Ogata's film, "Amasin Asian."
