Time for 'Tea'

Director Kati Kuroda is holding auditions for five female roles in Kumu Kahua's production of Velina Hasu Houston's drama "Tea," opening in August.

Roles are available for Asian-American women in their late 30s to late 50s. Auditions will be at the theater's downtown location and will consist of cold readings from the script.

Those auditioning should come early and expect to stay for the whole time. Scripts are available for loan with a $10 cash deposit at Kumu Kahua Theatre, 46 Merchant St.

Auditions are from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Call 536-4222.

Props for sale

The North Shore will be up for sale May 21. The canceled Fox TV series, that is.

Some 500 items from the hotel drama "North Shore" -- from the fictitious resort Grand Waimea's flowing lobby staircases to the faux elevator doors, electric cars, fish tanks and furniture -- will be put up for bid at the Hawaii Film Studio 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Inspection of auction items will be allowed from 8 to 10 a.m.

Photographs of auction items may be viewed at the Web site www.mcclainauctions.com later this week.

Every item from the show is being sold, except wardrobe and Grand Waimea logo items. Especially plentiful are building supplies, including rock for the façade used on the front of the hotel, lumber, brick blocks, cloth and fabric. All props, including chandeliers and surfboards, will be auctioned.

There are no upset prices, said auctioneer Marty McClain, owner of McClain Auctions.
