Moanalua, Kailua reach
OIA championship game

Moanalua pounded out 18 hits to pull away from Aiea for a 14-9 win in the OIA semifinals.

The Menehunes advance to the championship game against Kailua today at 7 p.m. at the Central Oahu Regional Park.

The Menehunes pulled away by scoring five runs in the second inning and four in the third.

Peter Arakawa led the charge, going 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the second and a double. Andrew Blomberg aided the Moanalua offense, batting 5-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, while Adam Arakawa went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Likewise, Na Alii weren't short on power from the plate. Brian Morihara belted two doubles in the game, while Kurt Nishi hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning. Na Alii will play Pearl City in the third-place game at 2 p.m. at CORP.

Aaron Kunioka hit a single to shallow right field to score the winning run in the bottom of the eighth as the Surfriders defeated the Chargers in the OIA semis.

Kunioka's hit allowed Preston Nakata to score from second base. Nakata beat the throw home to allow the Surfriders to advance to the championship game today against Moanalua.

With the Surfriders up 2-1, the Chargers tied the game in the seventh with an RBI triple by Matt Ko.

From both the mound and the plate, Andrew Ontai helped the Mules defeat the Falcons and move into today's OIA fifth-place game.

Ontai pitched a two-hit shutout of the Falcons, striking out six in the process. He also went 2-for-3 with a solo home run.

The Mililani-Waianae game was suspended due to darkness. The contest was tied at 5-5 in the top of the ninth inning. The game will resume today at 2 p.m. at Mililani H.S. field, with the winner moving on to play Leilehua at 4 p.m. at Central Oahu Regional Park for the fifth and final OIA slot in the HHSAA Baseball Tournament.

No. 5 St Louis 10, Damien 9

Shaun Kauleinamoku's double in the bottom of the seventh scored the game-winning run as the Crusaders rallied to defeat the Monarchs.

Down two runs going into the final frame, the Crusaders got a lift from senior Kelii Zablan, who smashed a two-run homer to left field to tie the game.

Wally Marciel pitched a complete game, striking out 13 and allowing only one hit as the Raiders blanked the Spartans. With one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, Maryknoll's Brennan Young broke up the no-hitter with a single.

Marciel also hit a two-run homer in the first inning to help the Raiders get their ninth win in the ILH. Greg Hackler went 2-for-3 with a triple in the win.
