Pear and papaya
mix in salad

This dish was prepared by Malina Seaborn of Great and Mighty Greens on "Hawaii's Kitchen" Sunday. The show airs at 5:30 p.m. on KHON/Fox.

All the recipes from the show are available at the Web site www.suresave.com.

Pear Gorgonzola Salad

1 bunch asparagus
2 tablespoons macadamia nut oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
3 to 4 ounces mixed greens
3 to 4 slices gorgonzola or maytag bleu cheese, thinly sliced
1/4 crisp pear, thinly sliced
6 to 8 caramelized nuts or toasted pine nuts
Bottled papaya seed salad dressing, to taste

Add oil to heated skillet over medium-high heat. When oil is hot, add asparagus and sauté 1 minute. Add garlic and sea salt. Sauté 2 more minutes, or to desired doneness. Asparagus should be somewhat crisp. Cool slightly.

Arrange mixed greens on a serving plate. Top with cheese, pear slices and nuts. Place warm asparagus on top of salad. Drizzle with papaya seed dressing.
