'Hitchhiker' truth

Inspired by the sci-fi comedy "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," which opened Friday, the University of Hawaii-Manoa Institute of Astronomy will present a free panel entitled "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the End of Everything!"

The talk will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Art Building Auditorium. Parking is $3.

In the film, Earth is demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass. The UH astronomers will share their views about surviving real astrophysical perils, such as killer asteroids, colliding galaxies, exploding stars and black holes, as well as the inevitable fate of Earth, the universe and everything!
