Owls edge Crusaders in ILH

Conan Young gave up just one hit over the first three innings, and Reece Uyeno went 3-for-4 with two runs as No. 6 Mid-Pacific beat fourth-ranked Saint Louis 7-6 yesterday at Central Oahu Regional Park.

Young and Jayson Kramer combined to strike out five as the Owls won their fourth straight game. Ryan Sasaki and Jordan Duropan each scored two runs for the Crusaders, who had a modest two-game winning streak snapped.

Wally Marciel tossed a one-hit shutout and Greg Hacker homered and drove in two runs for the Raiders.

Chris Johnson also homered and drove in four runs as Iolani scored seven times in the first inning.

Aaron Nichols and Stuart Kam each drove in two runs and Koa Kaleo picked up the complete-game win, giving up just six hits and two runs in seven innings while striking out 11.

The Warriors remained a half-game behind first-place.
