Shakespeare auditions

Auditions will take place tomorrow for the 2005 season of the Hawaii Shakespeare Festival.

There's no need to prepare, according to festival principals. Just show up dressed to move and plan to stay the entire session if you can.

Sessions run 2 to 5 p.m., and 5 to 7 p.m. at Mid-Pacific Institute's Kawaiahao Theatre.

Callbacks will be for 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, also at Mid-Pac.

The season's productions will be "The Winter's Tale," directed by R. Kevin Doyle; "Romeo and Juliet," directed by Tony Pisculli; and "A Midsummer Night's Dream," directed by Harry Wong III.

More information is available on line at www.hawaiishakes.org, or call Pisculli at 256-6657.

Student film deadline

The Hawaii Student Film Festival has extended its entry deadline date to April 15, for its annual festival to be held at the 50th State Fair on May 28.

Students in any grade level, enrolled in any public, private school or college/university in Hawaii are eligible in the contest, which welcomes films of all genres. Home-schooled students and independent student film/video makers are eligible.

There is no limit to number of entries. Two clear VHS copies and one DVD or DV copy (Mini-DV, DV-Cam, DVC-Pro) of the entry must be submitted with labels featuring the name of the video, your name and contact information. There is no minimum running time, but the maximum is 120 minutes. Videos will not be returned.

The winners will receive broadcast consideration by HSFF for submission to the Maui Film Festival, HBO and the Independent Film Channel, among other broadcast venues. Winners could also receive representation by talent agencies, and production and development considerations by producers.

Download entry forms at hawaiistudentfilmfestival.org/HSFFGroup_files/FRAMEFEST.htm.
